Will there be a spin off of Boston Legal now that it’s over?

We watched the series finale of Boston Legal tonight. When Allan Shore agreed to marry Denny Crane, Denny(played by William Shatner) said, “they could do a show about us, maybe on a different network though…”
We thought maybe that was a hint that there is going to be a show about the characters Denny Crane and Allan Shore…Does anyone know?

Unlikely. David E. Kelly (the creator/producer) reached a mutual agreement with ABC to end the show, because he was done telling stories for it…

Kelley and ABC, and letting the show end on its own timetable with its creator personally shepherding it to the end is why this is cause for thanks from fans rather than frustration. Here are some of ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson’s statements on the issue when he met the press earlier this month: “David felt like he had 13 episodes left in him. He really wanted to end it. He really wanted to do some things with our two core characters. It was really his decision. I really like being able to know when shows are going out…. Let’s let these creators who have created unbelievably compelling characters and iconic pieces of television, let’s let them end it with dignity and integrity and, to me, compelling content. And we can market it as such. For us, it’s an advantage. We really appreciate David signing up and getting excited about these final 13. We’re talking about how to really sell them as the kind of final crescendo for what for us has been a terrific series.”"

He was supposed to move on to be executive producer of Life on Mars, but he got replaced, so theoretically he would be available, but I just don’t see that happening. I mean, not only was it mutually agreed upon to end it for creative reasons, but also the ratings weren’t all that great. Never say never, though, it could still happen. The latest that news about it would be released would likely be May, as that is when the networks finalize their schedules for the fall.
